Kia Ora fellow bloggers, Today, Wednesday the 30th of august. Workers from the enterprise called “Motat” paid us a visit, to discuss and show us how to create a “connected marble run” using a few well-known rube Goldberg smart machines. This has also been the topic we have been learning about in class, so it gave us a small demonstration of what it would be like when we present our machines. We had separate boards which would connect towards the end to connect our marble runs together.

First, we got put into groups. The people in my group was: Hena,Latu & I. we worked as a team to attempt to create our own marble run. We learnt how different ways to use the simple machines to make our creation, how it works & why they are useful for the assignment. The most challenging part of our process was making sure the cups would stay on the pulley and the marble making it into the slot. But overall i really enjoyed the workshop. We learnt new things, engaged with one another and made cool things. Have you ever used simple machines before? If yes, how did it go?!

Today , the 7th of august we got a visit from the lunchy group, which is the group that makes the lunches for our school, they also send other schools free lunches too. They payed us a visit, to discuss with our students different varioties of food groups in our school lunches. They filled us with the knowledge of what types of food groups are in our lunches, what type of lunches we would expect and much more.

We were put into groups, where we got given different types of food groups. For example the groups there were was : Carbohydrates,Vegetables, Milks, Fruit and Protein. I was in the carbohydrates group because my food item was pasta. When we were in our groups, we got challenges which helped our knowledge on what we eat and how each food group had a reason for our health. It was a really fun and the challenges were cool too, they educated us on how many lunches were made per day which is about 18000 which is a INSANE amount and many more.

It was fun to learn more about our types of food groups. Towards the end, some groups also won some cool prizes from the challenges they gave us. My team came 2nd and overall it was a really cool experience. We also got given a ticket-like paper which can challenge us to try different veggies and foods that is in our school lunches

But we hope they come again to visit. Thankyou Lunchy group!

Talofa lava fellow bloggers, On Wednesday the 28th June Wesley Intermediate School had got gifted free tickets by the cast to experience this amazing drama show called “dirty work”at Q theater in Auckland city. We were so excited to see the show, we were transported there by bus in our individual classes. During the bus ride we were singing along to songs, laughing and more.

Once we got to the theater we entered the building and we stayed on one half of the front room where tables & chairs were and we got to stay and chill for a little bit right before the drama show we had came to watch had started. The area we were staying in was decorated with giant letter balloons saying”DIRTY WORK” and it was so pretty, at first i thought it was happy birthday balloons for someones birthday but it was cool. As we were waiting we saw some other schools that were joining us as we were watching the show, the schools that were there were : Avondale Int & Mission Heights.

Finally after we were waiting, it was our time to head upstairs to go settle into our seats to get ready to experience the show. We were so excited there were seats in the middle, side balconies,top balconies and much more. I got to sit on one of the side balconies with some other friends. I think where i was sitting was a pretty good view of the show. I sat with Hena,Latu,Siaki & others in my row. Suddenly, the lights slowly dim. I sit comfortably waiting for the show and then it started.

During the show I was really confused ( my honest opinion ) but towards the end I got it. I was really impressed at how the characters emotions felt real and some of the scenes were relatable to some of the crowd. They really portrayed the culture really nicely. They had some comedy in it too, my favourite moment from the show was the scene when Niall was on the video call with Vj, the jokes in there were too funny. I also loved the plots & twists. Towards the end they ended with there last song it was so incredible and such a great experience for us. Finally we made our way downstairs to hop onto our bus to head back to school to finish the rest of the school day, but overall I really enjoyed it, I give it a 4.5/10.

 

THE END

BABYSITTING GONE WRONG😱!

One Tuesday afternoon, I had received a call from my older cousin asking if I could babysit her 2-year-old baby boy. Of Course as the nice person I am, I said yes. 15  minutes after the call, I heard the loud doorbell ring. It was them obviously so I opened the door to see her carrying a huge bag of baby supplies and finally they said goodbye and I set up some stuff for the baby to play with in the lounge. Afterwards I put the baby monitor in the lounge because I had to pop into an online meeting in my office.

 

 I plug the baby monitor into the wall so I can track my nephew. During my video call I noticed the baby monitor disconnected and the whole house went quiet & I began to sense something wrong was going on.  So I paused my meeting and ran to the lounge to check & suddenly I heard a gust of wind coming from outside, and to my surprise the door was open wide with large white footprints on the steps. I thought it was some kind of joke, but I followed it into the woods.

 

The ray of light leads me into this weird cornrow harvest area as I make my way to the other end of the area. I begin to see a beam of light coming from the other side. I begin to be controlled and pulled from the light as if someone was pulling me towards the ray of light. I slowly start moving, feeling terrified because I don’t know what could be in that little area. But I am still curious about how he escaped without even reaching the front door and whose large white powdery footprints were those.

 

Finally after a few minutes the area becomes revealed to me and i soon see a large UFO collect things such as bikes and much more and it so happens to be my nephew aligning  with the ray of light.I’m feeling so worried because she trusted me with her son, and I don’t know where the UFO could be going. It could be going somewhere unusual or unsafe. I began sprinting towards my nephew and tried to grab him as fast as I could, but it was too long and when I grabbed him the UFO began pulling us up and we couldn’t escape.

As I slowly built up inside the long white cloud I felt as if I was being let free but I hadn’t moved at all , Suddenly swoosh!! a group of raindrops started aiming downwards at the river ahead. When I finally land inside the river , I start swaying side to side going down and down the river as the rocks roughly combine with the water splash! I hit the rock nearest to me. 

 

Then, suddenly as I continued making my way towards the other side of the river the beautiful te-ra(the sun) started soaring into the sky. Its light felt as if I was in a new dimension floating in the air. It was like my perfect picture of heaven. When it came up to me it felt like I was steaming hot , melting like an ice block lying in the sun allday.

 

I was terrified for my life. Its burning light caused me to burst !! and all of my droplets shattered everywhere making me into a gas like substance…then it started all over again… this time it started all the way in winter time..when it snowed on mount everest… TO BE CONTINUED….?!
